| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The male has dark brown-black wingtips with blue veins. Immature often have much paler browner wings. They have metallic blue-green bodies and blue-green eyes.
The female has dark brown iridescent wings, a white patch near the tip of the wings and a metallic green body with a bronze tip at the abdomen.Females lay up to 300 eggs at a time on emergent or floating plants, often on water-crowfoot. Like the Banded Demoiselle they often submerge to do so. The eggs hatch after around 14 days. Also like the Banded Demoiselle the larva is stick-like with long legs and develops over a period of two years in submerged vegetation, plant debris or roots. They usually overwinter in mud or slime.Males are territorial, perching in bankside plants and trees. They chase passing insects, often returning to the same perch. Males can stray well away from water, females live away from water unless egg-laying or seeking a mate. |

Hi Pawel. You have captured a fine close up of this beautiful damselfly. With good detail and rich colours. a nice POV/DOF. Good use of the light on the wings. well done TFS.
Nick..
Hello Pawel,
Very nice composition with this mature male Beautiful Demoiselle, with his bright dark blue wings. I like the reflection with so nice colours on the wings. I just post one juvenile today. It seems that the season is good for this nice damselfly.
Best regards,
Catherine
Very pretty composition! I like the colours and the way you have captured the sunlight resting on its wings and body!

The Beautiful Demoiselle is wel captured Pawel.
you took this with the 70-200 from distance I belive. For shot's like this I try to captured them with a real macro lens for a beter shot, yours is not bad at all but I am a perfectionist and try alway to do things so good as I can do. Well composed and nice job anyway, have a nice day.
