Caterpillars host plants: Viola hirta, Viola arvensis
Habitat: dry grassy areas, meadows, clearings, forest edges

Hi Krzysztof.
Once more amazing shot. DOF is precise despite the use of compact camera. Crisp sharp butterfly stands out off BG greatly. Lights is perfect and underlines the colouration and texture of the insect excellently. Light BG is nice in its smoothness and colours too. Bravo. Perfect shot as well as the WS.
Alexei.

Hello Krzysztof,
this is a very fine reminder of the summer, it's soon here.
About the composition; For my taste it a little to much space to right but thats of course personal.
The sharpness and details are very good and the DOF too, almost the whole insect is in focus and still stand out nicely from the BG.
The colours are nice and natural.
Well done.
Gert

hello pabis!

Hello Krzysztof,
a beautiful picture of this small Boloria species which is rarely if at all shown at TN.
Due to the unusual angle of incoming light, contrasts on the wing surface are strong but well managed.
The characteristic colour pattern is nicely shown.
Best wishes, Peter

hello Krzysztof,
Interesting to see this rarely seen butterfly. Picture full of light and showing well the patterns of the wings. It looks quite alike Boloria titania, which occurs in my region.
Best regards and thanks
Anne

Hi Krzysztof,
a very clear, well lighted, well detailed presentation of this cute little fritillary, allowing to do some substantial cropping from the right in order to improve the composition by bringing the butterfly composition off-centre.
Memory of summer: With those summer temperatures lasting for weeks in April Boloria dia has been and still is aroud right now very frequently this year near Vienna. Nevertheless, I did not succeed yet to get a capture of it as good as yours here. A very good documentation of this quick and restless flier, indeed.
With thanks, and best regards,
Peter
