[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
In August I spent few days with my friends on Ponidzie. It is a region in in south-central Poland in the Nida river valley. I have seen some great butteflies including: P. argyrognomon, P. coridon, C. argiades, L. dispar, P. machano, B. dia, A. paphia, A. aglaja and many others. But this time something different. Photo was taken in a Polana Polichno Nature Reserve in a Kozubów Landscape Park. You can see it here.

It is a steppe reserve in a middle of the deciduous forest (polana means clearing). It is also a place where you can find a beautiful beetle - Lucanus cervus.

Here you can see a snail that is quite rare in Poland and present mostly in the south-eastern part (but not in the mountains) and on north-west.

Cepaea vindobonensis

Description: It is an air-breathing (Pulmonata) land snail, in the family Helicidae. The shell is dull with thin stripes and pink margin.

Distribution: Entire Carpathian region, eastern Alps, Balkans to Greece and N Black Sea region, Moldavia, Crimea, N Caucasus, Poland, Austria, Czech Republic, isolated places in Germany.

Size: wide – 20-26mm, high – 17-24mm

Habitat: dry grassy areas, hills and clearings

Hello Krzysztof
It looks like the flower stems are growing out of the snail. . . Quite a funny image.
Nice sharp focus on the snail, good colours too,
TFS

Hello Krzys,
This is a very nice observation! We have plenty of similar snails in the garden, all with slightly different lines on their shells. I like the continuation of the lines in the flower stems. Great sharpness, lovely colours and nice and simple composition.
TFS and cheers, Ulla

Bravo, my friend.
Amazing creative idea and subject for shooting. I am impressed with beautifulness of the pictured combination. Brilliantly reproduced snail is looked on the pictorial plant perfectly. Details, lights, colours and blurriness of the BG are superb. Ell done and kind wishes.
Alexei.

Hello Krzysz,
A fine simple composition showing a species of snail that I am not aware of but they are so variable that I would have to be an expert to ID it. I take your word for it!
Nice sharpness and I like the way you composed it at the base of this umbelliferous flower.
TFS,
Regards, Ivan

Hej,
Serdecznosci,
Michal
