The key here is the title.
As you can see it's just a swan. But its fiery eyes give me gooseflesh every time I look at the pic.
Moreover, when I journey back to that moment I still see how the swan approached me. It was motionless... it was getting closer fast like a sailing ship.
I used continuous auto focus, which Nikon, I reckon, should be very proud of.
I also shot with low contrast so that the bird's plumage is not too dark against the water.

Lovely greenish water with the ripples coming through.
