Phallus impudicus- some very interesting informations about this strange mushroom:
Their abrupt appearance in gardens and lawns is frequently the cause of considerable consternation; they arise from an "egg" that results from the immature mushroom's universal veil, quickly breaking the "shell" and thrusting themselves up to heights of nearly 10 inches in a matter of hours!
At any rate, like the other stinkhorns, Phallus impudicus covers its tip with a foul smelling and spore-laden slime; flies are attracted to it, and carry the spores away as they continue on their little fly adventures.(http://www.mushroomexpert.com/phallus_impudicus.html)

Very often during my forest walk I can feel the smell of this mushroom 10-20 meters ahead.
This shoot was taken near Glebokie lake, east from Mragowo. I remember it was hot day so stench of this Stinkhorn was extremely intensive.

Every speciment arouse interest in all the insects around, here we can see over 20 flies and some ants.

In polish language it's called "bezwstydny" which means "shameless"- propably because of it shape and this specific odour...
