Welacome!

Macro close-up on head and big black eyes of Rhagium mordax (in English- longhorn beetle or Bark Runner Beetle- I'm not sure if both names are correct), Polish name- Rebacz szary.
Photograph taken during walk in forest near Olsztyn, just after this little guy "attacked" my girlfriend's neck. She's not a bug lover so wasn't happy for this close contact;).
He landed in forest road in the shadow so it was hard to take some sharp shot because of slow shutter speed and wild mosquitoes attack.

Some species information found in web sides:

Rhagium mordax - Length 21mm
Adults are seen between May and July on open-structured flowers, particularly hawthorn and umbellifers, and the larvae are found in the very rotten wood of most species of broad-leaved trees, especially just under the bark. This beetle is common in woods and hedgerows in most parts of Britain and is most often seen in garden orchards or hedgerows in country areas.

Food:
Wood-feeder as larvae, on very soft decaying, long-dead wood of fallen trees or stumps where they form tunnels, usually just below the bark. Adults feed on nectar and pollen of flowers.

Scientific classinfication:
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Arthropoda
Class: Insecta
Order: Coleoptera
Family: Cerambycidae
Subfamily: Lepturinae
Genus: Rhagium
Species: Rhagium mordax

I hope You like this close shot. Thanks for any comments and criticques.
cheers!

Hola Adrian, buena aproximación con escasa PDC pero suficiente como para enfocar una parte interesante del insecto.Tiene buena luz y color. Un saludo

Hi Adrian,
Beautiful posrtrait of this beetle.POV,sharpness and details on eyes and DOF you managed are excellent.
Thanks for posting.

You got one eye of this Longhorn Beetle in perfect focus, Adrian.
I wish the focus were even on the entire front portion of the insect.
Nevertheless, it is a resonable experimentation.
Thanks.

Hello Adrian,
Interesting macro of this Longhorn Beetle with great focus on the eye and good details.
A fine background and I like your composition.
TFS and regards, Ulla

Hello Adrian,
This is a top class close-up: great expression and sharpness.
I know that the rhagium mordax can land very quickly everywhere. I posted recently a shot of one of them which landed on a garden table. I understand your girlfriend very well: I'm not also happy with a physical contact with bugs. But I must say that since I take photo of them, I'm looking for them and less afraid of any insect. So, if she can see them through your camera, maybe she will like the view...
Best regards,
Catherine

Very good use of your DOF Adrian, perfectly focused where it must be.
Excellent post processing, and your frame is well composed.
Great POV, exposure, and natural color.
Well done & TFS!
