a superb picture of this ground bettle. Obviously not easy to take out of different reasons:
these creatures are restless runners, can quickly hide and have "photographer-unfriendly" colour and surface!
Nevertheless, you professionally present us the specimen including its passengers.

First i want to wish you an exceptional 2009 in your personal and professional life. I hope that all your studies will also go well and that perhaps we might even meet at last :)

This is another interesting post from you, showing this big beetle sadly full of parasites. Your shot is well taken - with a good balance of flash as well - the makes the natural contrast between the beetle and mites even more evident. And, they are some fat little ba$tards, too.
Very sharp and very well focused picture and a nice informative note to go with it, too.

A great macro of this Carabid beetle with its mite 'passengers'. The lighting, composition on the bark and sharpness all contribute to make this a first class image.

I see that you also present a black beetle and a funny one. The title is well chosen! Actually I often observed this taxi-function on insects. Excellent picture of the Scarabus granulatus. You managed the light very well and the sharpness too.

czy pasażerowie na gapę potem zjedzą tego żuczka? Szkoda by było, jest nawet ładny ( generalnie mam uczulenie na insekty tego typu).
Zdjęcie najwyższej jakości. Widzę, że korzystasz z Raynoxa - jest prosty w użyciu a daje niesamowity efekt. Już nie mogę doczekać się wiosny aby pobiegać za tymi malutkimi stworzonkami;-)))

Realmente bonita y de mucho interés esta fotografía. A veces observamos a estos parásitos en algunos insectos, pero casi nunca con esta claridad tan sorprendente.
Independientemente del documento, la realización técnica de esta fotografía es meritoria, ya que a pesar de tan poca luz, las texturas son sobresalientes. Un buen encuadre también.

Hi Radek,

thanks to you the TN watchers get to see some of the Adephaga, a group quite underrepresented here. Your "Grainy Carabid" is a fine example. As usual, you mastered the techniques, rendered the black color and the faint purple right and showed something interesting to boot: here its the taxi clients. Since I found the picture a little dark on my screen, I propose a post-processed workshop version. Judge it for yourself whether there is an improvement.

An interesting post, I've seen mites on insects before - well since joining TN I've started to notice these things, but I've never seen their larvae before. Great ISO, sharpness and details. Black beetles on brown bark is hard to get the details, but you've done very well.
