Lovely shot - very good detail and exposure. I have no ides about ID - I will look at your previous postings and get back if I think I know.

My best guess is a Brant's Bat . . . .

Now I understand the English word "torpor" better, Radomir!
So this bat is in a state of torpor.
The fellow has chosen the place for prolonged sleep very wisely, except that you were cleverer and shot him in such a wonderful way without actually disturbing it.
The aminal's posture says it all.

All the details of a wooly animal to capture fully as big Radomir. Actually this is one of the best chiropteran close ups i have seen in TN.

BTW, i think it may be Myotis dasycneme due to coloration. Ahmet Karataş (rousettus) is te expert here, maybe he can have the exact guess.

A fine macro-shot of this bat obviously in torpor Radomir, and glad to see you back after a while my friend. The ID on this bat would be easy, but not for me, a proper bat expert (like our friend Ahmet - rousettus) should do it I think. However our hairy friend here looks as if begging for a proper ID, a little patience my friend, till Ahmet returns from the field!

This is a fantastic image of the bat in hibernation.
You got really close,and have captured such great detail and colour.
Did you know that the only two native mammals in New Zealand are two very small bats.
All other mammals were introduced in the last 200 years.
You've done a great job of photographing this one.

Very nice specimen and as usual for your outstanding reproduction of the scenery and animal. You have reproduced every hair and skin texture brilliantly. Flash work is great too. Bravo. ok, ok, lets see... no idea. Myotis brandti? And that would be guessed only from looking at your bat gallery, not from the Mammalian guide. But be it, a very nice shot it is, the animal is actually lying and not hanging while in torpor. The best of all: good to have you back on the air, Radomir!

Great shot of a hibernating bat with good sharpness and from a fine POV that should allow a bat expert to give and ID.
As I am no expert I can only guess that as this is very dark it is Myotis mystacinus (or possibly brandti).
It would be interesting to know and thanks for sharing it!

Wonderful shot with immaculate sharpness on its fur. Fabulous sleeping posture and you have captured it quite nicely. Though I am not able to identify it and I am scared of bats I still like it shot. Very educative note and very nicely composed. Kudos.

it's not often the word 'cute' is associated with Bats, but it definutely applies here!
What a lovely shot of this sleeping Bat. Excellent detail and POV, amazing that you can get such a close shot - very impressive, well done!

Hello Radomir,
You do set us some really difficult tasks!! This is a great shot of a bat that is very similar to other bats! :-)) But, it's got a black nose so I wonder if it is a Myotis mystacinus?? Anyway - this is a great shot showing fine details and colours. I'm just a bit puzzled by the curly fur! Please tell us the answer soon!!
