[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
What can I say? I'm still very busy and I still haven't got time to play with my new cam. DSLR is very hard to master, especially with long lens and when you're in rush. And don't forget about insects - they're always in move little b**rds! :-) One of very poor shots taken this weekend in Botanic Garden. Damselfly with almost no DOF, but fortunatelly with sharp eyes. At least.

Hej,
Pozdrawiam
Adrian

Well, welcome to the real world... :)
You are right, DSLR's are difficult to control when you are coming from p&s cameras, especially in macro shooting, but, once you are getting control, you will see the results are better in every term (almost), one of the difficulties is very narrow DOF, and you need to learn how to control DOF for your pictures.
Sometimes narrow DOF is fun, even in macro shooting.

In this picture you caught well this damselfly, with an interesting composition on the green leaf, the colours are great and quality is very good, mybe a little bit open frame would be better.
One tip to control DOF is to get parallel to the insect, it works great on butterflies...

Una de las cosas mas frustantes en fotografia macro y especialemnte con DSLR es DOF. Hay que practicar mucho, lo bueno que con las camaras digitales es mas facil practicar :)

You got the focus entirely on the head of the damselfly, Greg :-)!
All the same, it is a plucky shot and despite the tail end getting a little blurry, you have given us a colourful view of this pretty looking species.
Also, good to see you again!
Ram

Not another Damselfly!!! I think I'd prefer a duck Red Greg!!! You might get it all sharp.

Don't worry people - Greg and I do know each other. How are you old friend? Good to see you posting again and I know how busy you are. You must be sorry that Winter is over.

Be good and best regards to all the family
Janice

PS Just looked through your latest albums. Hasn't Michal grown - and he is standing up too. Some great pics Greg...

Hello Greg,
We'll forgive you being busy and out of focus!! You've succeeded in presenting us a very nice composition anyway! Great focus on the eyes too and lovely natural colours. Hope you get more free time soon!
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

I remember a conversation we had a long time ago, about Ferraris, I told you that Ferraris run faster, but they are more difficult to drive than a normal car... I guess now you realize what I was talking about :D
As you say, sigma is a dark lens, either sun or flash is almost compulsory for macros.
BTW, I also remember another conversation about R.Kubica, you said he would be champion this year, and he is in the right way, congratulations :)
Best regards, Felipe.

Hi Greg,
A lovely capture of this beautiful blue damselfly. The focus on the head is superb. Very good composition and sharp details. Thanks a lot for sharing.
