[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Today after work I went to Botanic Garden. It was about 5PM, Sun was quite high, but light and colours were soft and saturated. I took my Tokina macro because I was going to photograph flowers and maybe insects. I left my 300mm Sigma home. Who need 300mm lens at this time of day when all birds are hidden somewhere? After few flowers shots I went to another part of Botanic Garden and suddenly spotted...Aaaaaaa! Black Woodpecker (Dryocopus martius). I saw this bird for second time in my life! I tried to take photos but forget about it with 100mm! Ok, after few steps I spotted... Aaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! Couple of Green woodpeckers [Picus viridis]. Or maybe they're two brothers. Or two sisters. Or sister and brother :-) Anyway - I tried to shot them again, but again with 100mm it was hopeless... So, I decided to wake up early tommorow and go to The Garden with my good, old and LONG Sigma :-) Meantime - substitute picture. Colours are natural, not postprocessed in any way.

Look at my workshop to see Woodpeckers.

Hi Greg . I know how easy it is to leave a lens at home. Good luck in the morning. This did not stop you from taking ths fine close up of this beautiful flower. Your good use of the light has given warm well detailed colour. A shame about the little stem just on the lower part of the flower. well done TFS.
Nick..

Have a good weekend.

Hi Greg,

As the Boy Scouts say, "Be prepared." Of course, had you had your Sigma with you chances are you wouldn't have seen the woodpeckers. Hope you get them tomorrow. In the meantime, this flower is beautiful with amazing colors and fine details. The workshop pictures are great too - a tease for what is sure to come.

Hello Grzegorz
sometimes I had similar position with yours. especially for butterflies and other small things' close-up, I also changed my lens. So, I understand you very well. I hope you will capture woodpeckers' two species tomorrow.
But today's shot also great. excellent sharp detials, splendid colors and composition. POV/DOF and lighting also great. Thanks for sharing, have a nice weekend with great woodpeckers shots:)
