[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I know it could sounds funny, but snails are one of hardest to photograph animals. They're slowly moving, but for some reason they're almost always blurred on photos. Most of pictures of them haven't got good DOF. Most of them haven't DOF at all :-) One sharp eye or piece of sharp shell - that's all. Even if you take not bad picture of snail there is always twig or two in BG which ruin your work. And imagine snail's shell - even if rest of picture is too dark, some parts of shell will be overexposured. I think snails have got some kind of cloacking device like some races from Star Trek which do its job perfectly.

I'm proud to present you this picture - this is snail with broken cloacking device. I'm almost happy with result.

Weekend was really good - very hot [+20C] and sunny. Hard to believe that two weeks ago we had got snow on ground and week ago I wore winter's coat. I spended most of time in Botanic Garden looking for opportunity to see something interesting. I saw many birds, insects, flowers and even deers. It was very good time.

Hi Greg. I to would be very happy to have taken this picture. You have taken in with sharp focusing and fine detail. Your use of the light has given bright colours. I like you eye level POV and the DOF. IT shows up so well against the plain coloured BG. well done TFS.

Witam
Bardzo ładny ślimak
Na razie u mnie w regionie to siedzą w skorupkach i śpią. Fajna kropelka wody.

Co do dzięcioła to jeszcze go dopadnę, na razie nie byłem nawet w pobliżu lasu.
Serdeczności

Hello Greg !
I've got the same kind of problems with my snails pictures - I have not far from 1000 good nature pictures, but not a single one of them with a snail... You, at least, did a great job with this one. Details, clarity, composition, POV, pose of the snail, blurred BG, everything is just perfect, and I understand why you are so proud of it. Very well done !
Valérie.

Hey, Greg,

what a beautiful picture!! hahaha, it's funny to see a snail completely lying flat - as if it is saying: OK, come and shoot me : ) thanks for sharing.

chrs,
Man Yee

Hi Greg,
A nice capture of this beautiful snail. Excellent sharp details and a lovely composition. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hi Greg,
Yes,a very lovely photo of this charming and very polite snail.
I'm sure he'll be wonderful for your photo gallery, but a real pain in your cabbages arses.
Oh dear!

Steve

Hi Grzeg,

I agree with You in the case of snails - I myself also don't have even one (or maybe only one...) useful photo of this being. This pic's very good - the shallow DOF isn't a problem, because bg's wonderfully blurred and the snail's sharp as a razorblade. Bravo, You did the job very well.

There's also around +20C degrees here in Hungary, morel season started immediately as a horsekick - I also advice You to search for morels now, because, probably 2 weeks later will really be late. At least here, a few hundreds kilometers South from You. Good luck and I wish You many great photos.

Best wishes from Your Hungarian friend, László

Almost happy?? I would be more than happy with a capture like this. Love the compo.. you had to get low and dirty for this. The clear BG makes this stand out... 3D like.
