Picture taken two days ago in Botanic Garden. This is common Grass Snake [Natrix natrix]. One and only snake which I photographed in my life. I saw this specie in The Garden last few years, but this one was for sure most beautifull. Grass snakes are usually darker, but this one has got beautifull olive body, almost emerald in some parts and in sunshine. There is funny story also. This snake wasn't very shy, I was walking after it around small stream. Suddenly two girls arrived, girls from very annoing specie, talking very loud about gossips, about Britney Spears, new clothes of theirs friends and similiar stuff. Of course they were trying to trample everything on their path - flowers, bugs, snails etc. Fortunatelly one of them spotted this cute snake and started to cry 'SNAAAAAAAKEEEEEE!!!'. One second later we heard nice hysterical duo. Then they're started to run away. After few meters they stopped and started to ask me about snake. I couldn't resist and explained that this is small anaconda, very dangerous snake, not only constrictor, but also very venomous one. Girls said that they'll never come to such place. I was quite happy - looks like I did my job well :-)

Hi Greg. You have taken a very well detailed close up of this snake around the haed area. The eyes are so bright . You have taken it with natural colours. It has also worked with my wife she was looing over my shoulder but when the snake came on the computer screen she went into the other room. Well done TFS.

Hello Greg,
Excellent close capture of a grass snake head taken from a very good POV with superb sharpness and lighting.
Your note is funny: I suppose you would never persuade girls interested in Brittney Spears and clothes to develop an interest in nature!
Thanks and best regards from Scania that bathed in spring sunshine yesterday but was foggy today!

A sharply depicted fine portrait Grzegorz, which shows the head plates and characteristic colouration of N. natrix quite clearly from a good vantage point. TFS indeed!

Grzeg, it seems like You have as great sense of humour as great photographer You are. Brilliant work with the annoying type of girls. :) And brilliant photo, of course, perfect portrait of the snake, very sharp in focus, and with great natural colors. A masterful image, bravo.
I myself never managed to capture a reptile yet, but 2 days ago I photographed Salamandra salamandra - my favorite amphibian.
Best wishes, have a happy easter, László

You did your job very well Greg, I must agree :)

Hi Grzegorz.
Breathtaking three-dimensional shot, fantastic eye-contact, extreme details of the snake head. I also like great composition of the image and nice DOF. Well done and TFS.
Alexei.

Hi Greg,
A good portrait of this grass snake (of which species I once has 2 pets in England)
Glad you got rid of those silly girls.
Reminds me of two blond German bimbos I picked up at Bullock Creek one day.
They'd gone for 'little' walk in bush, but had been lost all day. When I found them, they were really freaked out and said they would never ever go into rainforest again.
I had to laugh.
Cheers
Steve
