Believe me or not, but this butterfly was over the top on my wish list. Sounds crazy. This is Orange tip, quite common specie, even in Botanic Garden. So why it was so valuable for me? Few reasons. Firstly - I hunted this specie over four years and didn't take any good photo. I took few, but they're miserable. Secondly - looks like these butterflies never sits, I saw them in flight almost every time. Thirdly - when I see this butterfly, I'm turning into beast - I hunt them jumping from flower to flower with glowing red eyes and loud growl :-) Why? Because I must take good photo of this butterfly!!!

Yesterday I went to The Garden at late evening. Sun was low, colours were saturated with beautifull light. I was walking around small forest when I spotted white butterfly. I looked closer and I saw small female of Orange tip. It was sitting quietly on small twig. I took few photos against the sun. I was quite happy with result and went away. Nearby I spotted something which looked like Large white, so I took only one photo of this boring specie.

Today I started to edit yesterdays photos and I realised that this boring 'Large white' is in fact another female of Orange tip. And this photo is much better than version with side POV on twig.

So, please enjoy, my first good photo of Orange tip :-)

Now I'm going to catch more orange male :-)

Hello Greg !
Hey, your story reminds me my own story - I see these butterflies EVERY TIME I go out, but they are always flying, just in front of me, under my nose, never sitting down, never resting, and I have only some poor blurred pictures of bad quality. I congratulate you on the first of this species, it's such a wonderful picture ! Details, composition, POV, pose of the butterfly, even the wings without orange are nice. Very well done !
Valérie.

Grzegorz merhaba,çok kaliteli bir makro çekmişsin,ışık ve kontrast çok iyi, ellerine sağlık :)

Hi Greg,

Congratulations on finally getting a great shot of this butterfly. I love the pose on the tiny violet flower. Lovely natural colors and fine details of this pretty Orange Tip. A beautiful setting and wonderful diagonal composition.

Hello Greg,
Yes Orange Tips are more active than usual this year and though I saw many yesterday there was not a single one that presented itself to be photographed and they are very difficult to catch in flight. So for me no photos of this species this year!
Nice sharp open-wing capture of a female in excellent lighting and against a fine OOF natural BG.
Great shot and great note!
Thanks,
Ivan

Hello Greg,
You did very well to find this female resting, they normally seem so active! Your composition is lovely with the butterfly sharply in focus. Fine sharp details and I like the flower it is resting on!
Lovely colours too!
TFS and cheers, Ulla

Hi Grzegorz.
Once more outstanding, terrific of quality image of a nice scene. Reproduction of all features and details of the butterfly cannot be better. We can see even tiniest details of the insect including every hair on the body and texture of the wings. Composition is so blameless as all other components of high photo art. My congratulations.
Alexei.

Gratulacje! Piekna fotka. Tlo, kolory, ostrosc, naswietlenie - wszystko super. Ja nadal poluje na samice ale odnotowalem kilka sukcesow w walce z samcami ;-)
Pozdrawiam

Yes, You're right: this b/fly never sits, I always see them in flight. I also tried to photograph it a few times, but without any success... Good to see You managed to capture a female specimen. Maybe it isn't so spectacular as the male, but a wonderful photo with crystal clear sharpness, great pose, excellent DOF and so. I truly wish You to photograph more specimens, on the high quality You used to. Good luck! But a wish-list will never be shorter. If You photograph something from it, You need something else again and again...

Top secret, don't tell to anyone: remember Your wish-list You once spoke to me. My next upload will be something from Your list, the animal No. 1 of it...
