[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
As I stated earlier, this year I want to focus on two groups of insects - hoverfies and butterflies from Lycaenidae family. Today number one on my new list of species - most common - Common blue. Picture was taken today in meadow part of Botanic Garden. Weather was rather not very good with rain showers and short breaks of blue sky. It was very wet and most of insects were hidden. I spotted only few butterflies including this one.

My Lycaenidae family list:

1) Polyommatus icarus - Common Blue

Few words about identification - there are few species of Polyommatus with very similiar blue wings. Unfortunatelly I couldn't take picture of other side of wings which would be very helpfull for ID. Because Common blue is most common I assumed that this specie is on my picture. Please tell me what do you think about it?

Hi Greg. Even if the weather was not to good you have used the light so well . some time it helps to have a dull day. Your sigmalens has taken a fine close up in you hands. The top POV lets us see a full view of the open wings. with fine detail and rich colours. well done tFS.
Nick..

Good Morning Greg!
If this male Common Blue were considerate enough to raise his antennae a little this would have been a perfect picture.
As it is, it is fantastic and your ID assumption is correct, not only because it is the most common blue. You can also make out the markings on the underside that show through.
Our weather today is also showery:(!
Thanks and happy hunting,
Ivan

This is top-quality, Greg.
The sharpness and details are amazing. The colours are very beautiful with a fantastic contrast against the OOF BG. Great POV, composition and DOF.
Regards,
Peter

Hello Grzegorz
it is truly a beautiful image of nature with very rich colouration: contrast of Polyommatus particulars is excellent on wings design.
Good pose of the Copper on the plant with great sharpness and good details on a very soft background.
Livio

Hello Grzegorz,
Excellent capture, very sharp, with a nice dark green background. I saw many Common Blue last days, more than last year at the same period. I hope we will have a good year for butterflies! Best regards,
Catherine

Hi Grzeg,
What I think this is one of the best pics of this specie I ever saw, and I'm afraid I'll never be able to make such a fantastic photo of a small b/fly specie like this. Although, never say "never"... Lucky man, You have great weather now. Here in Hungary there's drought now, there wasn't any rain in April at all, for example, and May was also quite dry... :(
Congratulations for the superb shot, best wishes, László

Ciao Greg, elegant little butterfly with fantastic colors, fine details and splendid sharpness, beautiful Blurry BG, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hi Grzegorz.
Today I have pictured butterflies including this species all day. May be sometimes I will share my shot. But I am sure it will not better because of it is impossible. Yours is brilliant in every aspect. POV and pose of the insect as well as its wingspread, exactness of all details and features including terrific colours, amazing BG are outstanding. Bravo. Perfect job.
Alexei.

Hi Greg,
The weather might not have been good, but perfect for lighting this shot by the looks of it.
An excellent image of this Ployommatus.
Well done!
Cheers
Steve
