Fresh picture from todays walk in Botanic Garden and another trophy on my Lycaenidae list. This is Large Copper, butterfly from Lycaenidae family, which is in fact quite large :-) I spotted it nearby of path on big meadow which lays nearby small stream. Copper sat on stalk of grass and behaved rather strange. After taking few photos I tried to move stalk of grass and this butterfly looked like drunk man who holds street lamp :-) Anyway - it was very polite model. Rather rare in my area, protected by law in Poland and extinct in UK.

My Lycaenidae family list:

1) Polyommatus icarus - Common Blue
2) Plebeius agestis - Brown Argus
3) Lycaena phlaeas - Small Copper
4) Lycaena tityrus - Sooty Copper
5) Lycaena dispar - Large Copper

Looking for next species :-)

Hi Greg, You have used the light so well in this close up picture of this Large Copper. Which has given bright colours with fine detail. I like the pose on the single grass . Your tokina lens works well with the 400d. Well done TFS.
Nick..

Hi Grzeg,
Fabolous photo and funny note. Seems like Your Tokina works better and better in Your hands. Sharpness and colors are second to none, no background noise at all, clever and elegant composition - a perfect tutorial how a b/fly macro shot should be done. Bravo MF. I hope You don't mind that I can't give points, became out of smileys for today.
Friendly regards, László

Witaj Grzegorzu,
Pozdrawiam, Pawel

Hello Greg,
Very beautiful photo in gorgeous light and in splendid colours, with beautiful contrast against the OOF BG. Excellent sharp details, POV and composition. Funny title and note.
Regards,
Peter

Perfect shot Greg.
Very nice indeed.
Cheers
Steve

Hi Greg

Fine shot of this species despite the unusual pose, perhaps it had 'drunk' too much nectar today?
Good sharpness and OOF background

Chris

Hello Greg, You've composed this shot beautifully. Focus is very sharp and the shallow depth is highlighting the subject very well. Beautiful lighting. Like the patterns on the wings and its soft natural colors. Well taken.

Hi Grzegorg

+: Very nice macro with great detail of you drunk butterfly...
I like the OOF background as well

-: nothing at all

Well done and TFS
Regards
Chris

Te niepozorne modraszki są częstymi gośćmi naszych ogrodów i łąk. Kiedyś uganiałem sieza jednym nprawie godzinę, a zdjęcie mogłem zrobic tylko "z ręki". Pięknie Tobie zechciał pozować. Ładnie odcina się od dobrze rozmytego tła.
Pozdrawiam,
Jurek
