[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I want to dedicate this picture for all fungi lovers, especially Felipe from Spain, Laszlo from Hungary and Steve and Clive from NZ.

Taken few hours ago in new area of Botanic Garden. This area is something new - they call it Garden of Shadows. Name says all - it is placed nearby small stream under trees which block most of sunlight. I must say just after opening it became one of my favourite areas of The Garden. Small, but with kind of magic atmosphere. I hope I'll send more pictures from Garden of Shadows soon. Today first one - fungus. I like fungi very much, but I'm very poor in identyfing them. This one looks to me like Tremella foliacea, but maybe it is tidea alutacea? I don't know :-) I hope somebody will help with ID. Garden of Shadows will be perfect place for fungi - shady and very wet. Today I spotted at least six species. I hope around autumn there will be many more. Look at my workshop to see wider panorama of Garden of Shadows.

Hello Greg,
My guess is that this is Peziza petersii, a species usually coming after fires and one absent in my country but I looked this up in my European fungi book. Nice and sharp and well composed with the OOF leaves in the BG.
Thanks and best regards,
Ivan

Hi Greg. The Botanic gardens sounds a fantastic place. You have taken this fungi with sharp focusing and fine detail i like your low POV at eye level with it. You have taken it with natural colours. well done TFs.
Nick..

Hi Grzegorz,

Magnificent mushroom, filled with very fine details. Very well capture the texture and curves of the specimen. Brightness is balanced preserves the naturalness of the colors. I have a pair of mushrooms in my post and I can confirm, that are difficult to classify correctly. But this is very interesting targets and provide great satisfaction to devote some time to photograph them. Very good job!

Regards,

Jesús

Hi Grzeg,

And You said You're poor in identifying fungi... Yes, this is Tremella foliacea Pers. without any doubt (Otidea alutacea (Pers.) Massee and its very closed relative, Otidea cochleata are different - so is Peziza petersii Berk., which doesn't grow in such colony - and fruiting late summer / fall). Seems there wasn't enough rain, only a little - in most of the cases fruitbodies of this specie are more wet. They are a bit old, but still not black as the oldest ones. Congrats for the correct ID specification.

Photographically a very pleasant pic, with wonderful color tones, great sharpness on the fungi and simple, yet nice composition. Double bravo.

Thank You very much for Your heartfelt dedication MF. I really appreciate it - this is the most special day of me ever here on TN, because this is the 3rd dedication I got today... Feel myself like tovarish Stalin when seeing (m)any of his columns... :)

Garden of Shadows: I remember a great death metal band from the United States wearing this name, whose debut CD I ordered via mail... It's still in my collection. But on the WS photo the place seems really something special.

Well, many thanx again - I hope Felipe's problems will be over soon and he returns to the site. Best regards from Your Hungarian friend, László - Wladyslaw :)

PS: the reason why I didn't mention the author of Otidea cochleata is the author's name contained letters of a reserved word... Unbelievable. See it here.

Pozdrawiam,
Jurek

Thanks you very much!
Laszlo advised about this dedication and it is great to see that there are members on TN that still rememeber us :)
Always a pleasure to look at your clear an detailed fungui shots. This autumn I will have time to look for them, and I hope also to be back in TN from time to time.
Best regards, Felipe.
