One of the great travelers. It's not common in northern part of Poland. It's rather southern species that is migrant in northern part of Europe.
As most part of Sphingidae it's very large moth - the maximum wingspan is near 120 mm!
Adult moths visits the flowers of Nicotiana, Petunia, Lilium, Phlox and Jasminum.
PS. It's one of the night shots. Picture was made using macro flash ring. |

Kolejny wielki zawisak na treknature. Strasznie zniszczony. Lekko nieostre prawe skrzydlo :-) Robione z lampa? Na jakim lisciu?
Chyba zadaje za duzo pytan :-)
Pozdrawiam

Hello Chris,
Though this specimen is worn, you have taken a fine flash shot that is reasonably sharp. The shot itself is of value as this moth is rare in N. Europe, presumably in Poland too.
I have seen this hawk-moth once in S. Sweden but that was before I had a digital camera!
TFS, regards, Ivan

I'd like to add the Turkish name to your wonderful note part :))
Excellent sharpness on green leaf texture.
TFS Chris.

Hi Chris,
Allways impressive, the Sphingidae in general. Your Hakw-moth has suffered a little from rain?
Best regards
Anne
