Hi Chris,
Nice shot! Very good composition and contrasting colours. I think it would benefit from a bit of sharpening
All the same well done and TFS

Hi Christopher,
very nice, well describing portrait of that species.
beautiful soft colours, very well set off from the background.
Unfortunately, the focus seems to have been directed on the blossom instead of the butterfly, so the b-fly to me looks too soft.
Maybe selective sharpening might help a little bit - tried a little workshop.
Thanks, and best regards,
Peter

This is a new species to me, and this photograph shows its markings and colours perfectly. I won't comment further on the sharpness - it's been said, but Peter and Goutham's workshops do give a worthwhile improvement. Thanks for introducing this species to me.
Regards, Nigel.

Very good photo of this Satyridae Christoper!
Very rare in Portugal!
Very good POV with wings wide open!
Very good blurred BG!
5* and TFS!
Dear Christopher, unfortunately, the colours of this butterfly are altered in a way that it is hardly recognized as Lasiommata maera (only some specific wing markings allow its identification). The specimen presented on the foto resembles more a species of the genus Erebia [see for example Higgins & Hargreaves (1983) Butterflies of Britain and Europe]. In an workshop I tried an approximation to match the characteristic colours of L. maera.
Best wishes, Peter.
CORRECTION on 22.04.06: SORRY Christopher, the appearance of your L. maera as an Erebia was a problem of my screen settings. Here are 2 points :). Best wishes, Peter.
