This time very common in Europe moth but unfortunatelly I didn't seen it on Trek Nature yet ;-)
The picture presents the male of this Arctiidae - I can say that it's amaster of camouflage. It's not easy to find if in grass ;-D
It's not very large moth - the wingspan is up to 36 mm. You can find it in June and July in dry habitats like dry meadows, xerophilous steppes, railway borders or moorlands.

The fly of these moths are also impressive - the back wings are orange and looks very well on the fly.

The caterpilars feeds on different foodplants like Festuca, Plantago, Artemisia or Calluna.

Sometimes common species just don't get photographed. Anyway, it may be common there, but it doesn't exist in Australia, so I haven't seen it before.
Good composition and OOF background.
Good sharpness and contrast.

Hi Chris, I rather like footmen myself, their shape is so distinctive. I love the way you've brought out the colours on this one, it's a real beauty. Great details, sharpness and lovely DOF producing an excellent BG with which to show off the subject. Very nicely done :)
