Very attarctive and large (the maximum wingspan is about 80 mm) species. Usually local and not common in Poland. Every time I've meet this species I see only one-two butterflies in the same area.
Usually you can find this butterfly in Spring but also in Autumn is possible to meet it.
The caterpilars feeds on Salix trees and bushes in June and July. |

Ciekawy moment. Lubie jak zdjecie przypomina mi o wycieczkach do lasu a to wlasnie takie jest. Troszeczke za ciemne i nieostre tu i tam. Zrobilem kilka zmian :-)
Pozdrawiam

Very beatiful species with good POV. Dark tree body is a bit bad but look good camouflaged.
TFS Chris.
Hello Chris,
I don't understand why this picture has only received so little critiques. I find it very interesting as you captured three different insect species. The ant at the bottom might be a little too close to the edge of the picture but this isn't too distracting.
You captured a great example of good camouflage and I understand that not all creatures are colorful and bright. This doesn't make a picture less interesting. The dark and white areas are nicely balanced and the subtle brownish hues add a bit of color diversity. The focus on the butterfly wings is good and the details are sharp. Maybe the highlights in the tree bark are a bit overexposed but than again, you would have lost the details in the dark butterfly wings if exposing the bark correctly. I love the textures on the tree and butterfly! Well done!
With Friendly Regards,
Eddie
Beautiful photos
Fantastic example of animal camouflage
