[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hello
Today just a simple landscape photograph of a very unusual sea.

The Baltic Sea is inland sea that is very young - its history begun ~13000 years ago. First it was a lake (Baltic Icelake), after that the water became salty (Yoldia sea ~11000 years ago), later it became a lake again (Ancylus lake ~10000 years ago) and again the salinity raised (Littorina sea ~8000 years ago). From the last Littorina Sea the present sea "evoloved" and it happened about 3000 years ago.

Now the salinity of the sea is very low (it ranged from 20 promiles in the entrance, i.e. Danish straits to 2 promiles in Bothnian Bay in the North). So it is the most freshwater inland sea in the world!!
It is also a very shallow sea with the greatest depth reaching only 460 m.

Due to this low salinity the species richness in Baltic Sea is rather low - some fully marine groups (like echinoderms) don't appear here, and others grow smaller than their cousins from the Atlantic. On the other hand there are only a few freshwater species that persist in the sea. Due to that fact this sea is very vulnerable to the antropogenic processes and any disturbance.

The place where I have taken the picture is the tip of the Hel peninsula (place where the Baltic Sea meets Gdansk Bay). This place for many years was abandoned due to the army that was there. But now it is open for public and offer still nice wild places (especially after and before summer).

Hello Ania!
Very happy to see your work after a long time.
This sea image on account of that piece of driftwood in the foreground is a great work of abstract art. Half submerged in the oncoming tide, the shape is evocative of complex human mind and the image leaves me with great joy at your creativity.
