I can appreciate your comments on such global warming, but now the politicians all over world are calling it climate change....but earth wins out...and your picture sows what it is normally like in transition...Very nice..a mellow and simple shot..

In this picture, and, if you will look carefully at all the trees from around, you will see that it is nothing with climate warms or the sprins.
After the leaves are gone, in all the trees, what you can see and what is happening...are the buds. But this is normal, and it is called in plant physiology "dub dormancy". The green leavef primordia is covered by some dark-braon dead leaves, called catafils. In this stage, the activity in the buds is , not saying stoped, but almost.This allowed the buds to survive during the winter, but, in the real spring they will emerge, forming leaves, flowers.
