[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Greg does, of course :-)

Another very busy day, no time for long note [that's a pity!]. As I said I love reptiles. Last year I had few opportunities to meet them closely. This photo was taken during long weekend at Kaszek's parents summer house at Jeziorsko Lake. It was time of spiders and lizards. We're walking around across meadows and forests and catching small lizards. Look at my workshop - one of them liked me very much :-)

This post is dedicated to my friend Horia man, who also love reptiles :-)

The Sand Lizard Lacerta agilis is a lizard. It is distributed across most of Europe (except the Iberian peninsula, west and south-east France, most of Britain, Italy where it is present only in isolated colonies, European Turkey, most of Greece); and eastwards to Mongolia. It has a light underbelly and a dorsal stripe: males tend to be darker and colour and turn green during the mating season. Sand Lizards can reach up to 25cm in length. It has several sub-species the westernmost of which is Lacerta agilis agilis. In this and the other main western sub-species (Lacerta agilis argus)the dorsal stripe is thin and interrupted - often not present at all, particularly in the latter sub-species which also contains the red-backed phase which has no dorsal markings at all but a plain red to brown dorsum. In these sub-species only the flanks of the males turn green in the mating season, unlike the eastern sub-species (predominantly Lacerta agilis exigua) in which males can be totally green even outside the breeding season. In the UK, the Sand Lizard is restricted to southern heathlands and the coastal sand dunes of north west England. It is regarded as threatened and strictly protected under law - as it is throughout most of Europe. This is in contrast to Lacerta agilis exigua whose Russian name translates to the "Common Lizard".

Hi Greg

I LOVE reptiles, too!!! (you know it)
And what a beauty she is! She is a L. agilis female and seems to be in the prime of its life, fully grown and ... very attracted by your bodyheat. ;)
The POV is nice here and gives us the opportunity to see all the charming colors and patterns on its scales.
She seems very calm in your hands...and on your neck :))
Very nice work!

Bravo and TFS
horia

PS: Thanks a lot for the dedication, my friend!!! I really apreciate it ;)

excuses point...demain

Going by the placid look in this lizard's eyes, I am fully convinced reptiles do love you, Greg :-)!
(As for me . . .eeeeeeekkkkks !!!!)
Cradled in your left hand and apparently photographer by your right, this Sand lizard looks almost pretty!
Focus, colours, details and so on give this image a stunningly natural, three-dimensional look.
I am so jealous I want to report you for violating rules by showing your fingers!
Ha, ha, ha!!!
Warm regards,
Ram

Gdybys chcial wspoltworzyc taki atlas - daj znac, podesle Ci do Niego kontakt.
Serdecznosci!
Radek

Hi Greg,
I love them to! Great colors, sharp detail, and the textures are amazing. Nice finger prints too. Looks like a tented Arch pattern.

I do, certainly!!!
Fajnie, ze wreszcie udalo nam sie spotkac. Licze , ze to nie ostatni raz. Zwlaszcza ze tematow bylo tyle, ze w koncu o zdjeciach ani o wyprawach za duzo nie pogadalismy :-)

The lizard on this picture has very annoyed face. Surely, she's not the happies female on earth in this moment :-)
Informative note, as always!
Best greetings,
Michal
