My todays title is tribute to titles from almost every bee picture on TN. Did you noticed that? Nine for ten bees pictures are titled 'Busy Bee'. So today meet busy wasp :-) In fact this wasp was really busy. I founded it in shady part of Botanic Garden in area with many 'weeds' like thistles and nettles. Insect was looking around, running and flying on few leaves. It was quite patient model, so I took long serie of pictures. Today is first one. Enjoy!

Unfortunatelly without my books I can't ID it, but I think it should be quite easy from this POV.

Yes, this is a perfect POV for an identification... I can't really help you though. My immediate thoughts were that it was a Potter Wasp, but I'm not sure :(
Excellent shot though!
You've achieved immense DOF considering you were using the Raynox and that you've used such a wide aperture!
Very sharp with optimum quality.
Well done Greg,
Joe

Hello Grzegorz,

Good sharp picture of this wasp (polistes gallicus, to be confirmed). I think it is a polist wasp. Beautiful colours.
Well done,
Mariki

Hi Grzegorz, this is a very fine macro of this wasp. You've picked up excellent definition on this guy with very good depth of field. I like how you have him angled on the shot.

Thanks, John

Hello Grzegorz,
This is a fine macro of a species of wasp that I can't ID from my limited sources, but I think this is some species of digger wasp that uses other insects or their larvae to feed its own larva in a hole prepared for the purpose. g4reat sharpness, composition and presentation.
Well done and thanks,
Ivan

Czesc Grzesiu!

+Gidday Greggzy.
This is an excellent macro of this Paper Wasp.
I think it is the European Paper Wasp, which seems to be almost exactly like the Chinese Paper Wasp we have here.
Do NOT put these up your nose!
Steve

Hello Greg,
Thanks for your recommendation of Raynox!! I've browsed through your gallery and you've certainly taken some superb shots with it! I wonder if it would fit the G9 too, I'll have to enquire!
This is a splendid view of this Wasp - amazing sharpness and colours and a fine background too.
Many thanks and cheers, Ulla
