Picture taken at Ina river, near Goleniow.
The European peacock caterpillar (Inachis io), more commonly known simply as the peacock caterpillar, is a well-known colourful butterfly, found in temperate Europe and Asia. The peacock butterfly is resident in much of its range, often wintering in buildings or trees. It therefore often appears quite early in spring. The Peacock can be found in woods, fields, meadows, pastures, parks, and gardens, and from lowlands up to 8,200 feet elevation. It is a relatively common butterfly seen in many European parks and gardens. Between the Peacocks is the scarce copper (Lycaena virgaureae), lives preferably on flower-rich, dry and damp meadows in Central Europe. The scarce copper is found at elevations of 1,000 to 2,000 meters.
PL – rusałka pawik to charakterystyczny i powszechnie występujący motyl w ogrodach, parkach i na łąkach. Między nimi znajduje się czerwończyk dukacik, dość pospolity motyl dzienny preferujący stanowiska bagienne. |
