Large chequered skipper - Heteropterus morpheus

Family: Hesperiidae

Flight Time: June - July

Size: 32-38mm

Altitude: 0-1000m

The most spectacular Skipper by a long way. Coupled with the very dark uppersides it is distinctive in flight. It is a central European butterfly.

No risk of confusion with any other species in Europe. Their peculiar bobbing flight alone is enough to identify them.

Hello Marx,
such a pretty butterfly with exciting pattern. You have detailed so well in good use of lighting. The nice greeen blurry background is well composed to enhance the beauty.
Excellent view and lively presentation that catches the eyes very immediately.
