Red Admiral ( Vanessa atalanta )
Life history:
The red admiral has a very erratic, rapid flight. Males perch, on ridgetops if they can, in the afternoon to wait for females, who lay eggs one at a time on the tops of host plant leaves. Young caterpillars eat and live inside a shelter of folded leaves, while older caterpillars make a nest of leaves tied together with silk. Adults hibernate.
Adult food:
Butterflies prefer sap flows on trees, fermenting fruit, and bird droppings. They visit flowers only when their other foods are not available. Then they will drink nectar at common milkweed, red clover, aster, and alfalfa, among others.
Habitat:
Red admiral butterflies prefer moist woods, yards, parks, marshes, seeps, and moist fields. During migrations, these butterflies are found in almost any habitat from the tundra in Canada to subtropic countries near the equator.
Regards.

WELL DONE & TFS
