Quite colourful picture today though you won't find a butterfly on that lovely flower ;)
As you can see spiders can have nice colours too.

This one belongs to Dolomedes species. He is sitting on flower of Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria), very common water plant.
Dolomedes spiders are active hunters. They usually wait for prey sitting on vegetation. This one choose quite beautiful place and it seems the spider liked that flower very much because I saw it there several times. Probably the flower attracted many insects and spider had many opportunities for lovely meal.
More info about Raft spiders you can find here.

I hope you like it.

Very nice colour combo. Well, not a butterfly, but if one clone out two legs and add some coloured wings, it may be taken as a butterfly! :-)
No intention to upset you but you have a little bit of shallow DOF here, seen on both the flower and the spider front legs.
(Please, don't be mad at me)

Regards, Petru

Hello Monika, very good close up and good harmonize of colors between spider and flower. Congratulations Didier.

Very well composed & colorful frame Monika. Sharp details with excellent light and color. Nicely blurred BG also..I think insects and flowers go together like a horse & carriage, don't you? Well done.
Thank You!

Beautiful colours and DOF. The detail of the spider is extremely good.

WoW!

J'aime bien cette photo,l'exposition fait bien ressortir les couleurs et la netteté est excellente.L'insecte est surprenant et l'evironnement est jolie.

Félicitations pour cette belle composition.

Merci!
Joseph.

Hi Monika,
I'm sure you know what I'm going to say!! ;)
Very pretty colours and detail. The shallow DOF doesn't bother me at all.
Perfectly composed and sweetly exposed ;)
Have a wonderful weekend my friend. Thanks for posting.

Hi Monika,
Great capture of this colourful spider and flower. From the thumbnail I thought it was "only" a flower at first (being ignorant what a "Dolomedes" was). Thanks for the lesson.
Wonderful pic and informative note.

wauuu very nice color
nice details and DOF
nice spider :o)
regards and TFS Libor

I found spiders handsome and definatelly more interesting than a butterflies. Colors are a plus though thats for sure. Flying suckers might look like painted heavens but like any heaven its quickly boring :) Ill stick with the bad boys team... I like this slight 3D affect your image has.

Hello Monika, this is a good shot. I often see them in this colour, I think it is when they have just shed thier skin but I'm not sure. Lovely BG for this one :-) Very colourful. Well done.
