I don't really know what this is, but no doubt I can call it an acrobat. Look at it's legs. Five of them is up. It holds to the flower using only one leg and jaws.

I found that creature sitting on Lamb's ear flower (Stachys byzantina) in one rainy day. It seems it was too cold for these insects to fly because when I get closer it didn't even try to get away. Instead it took such a pose probably hoping to scare me. I've seen bumblebees doing something simmilar when they sit on a flower and you try to touch them, but they never rise so many legs.

I don't know what kind of insect this is but it looks like a close cousin of bumblebees to me. Any help with ID will be very welcome though I realize you can't be sure of ID looking at this picture.

Hi Monika, nicely captured moment here.well done.
Thanks for sharing.José.

Hello Moni,
Knowing your enthusiasm, no matter how cold and snowy up there, no problem posting insects everyday until next season. Wish I could help you with the ID, in case its a new specie lets just call him Apis zaglobiae (Zagloba's bee) since he is fat, shaggy and cant stay balanced...:), like this:

Nice work Monika. This time the DOF works in your favour.

Regards, Petru

Agree Monika - real acrobat :-) Very strange pose, I don't know what this insect had got on its mind ;-) Great moment, very nice POV and details. I like third eye on wasp's head.

Great impact in this headshot Monika. Good detail, light and colors. Well composed with a very good POV. The action with legs splayed makes it a very unique capture. Well done.
Thank You!

Another great picture from thistle! Very funny to look at. Lively note! Thank you, Monika. Best wishes,
Peter

You are right about the legs. He is really in a funny pose. Good timing on your part. Great POV and composition.

Interesting capture Monika, what ever possed this bee to lift five of it's legs up is beyond me, I can almost here it say"Look ma! one leg!". nice capture. :)

What a wonderful and interesting photo that you have well done ! Your acrobat is realy nice and funy ! I also appreciate the complementary note... Congratulations Monika and thanks for sharing.

It is a nice POV and shows details well. Your camera will allow you a minimum aperture setting of F4.9 If you use this setting you will get even more details out of the depth of field given the amount of available light. Try setting the camera to F4.9 when doing these close-ups to gain the largest DOF. It is a very nice shot none the less. Well done.

This must be a bee magician! Excellent capture Monika, quite humourous too :-) I'm not sure what kind of bee it is but it is talented :-)

Very good!

Czesc raz jeszcze!
Pozdowionka i milego dzionka! ;>
Radek
