The title speaks for itself. It's the first spider I saw this year.

Though we still have lots of snow and quite low temperatures some creatures begin to wake up from winter's sleep.

I found this fellow on a river bank. It is one of very few places where snow had already melted away and some grass can be seen. The spider was scared by my dog and that made him jump on the snow. I have some pictures of it, that I will maybe post later.

Today I wanted to show you this one. I took the spider on my hand mostly because I wanted to stop it somehow.
This fellow belong to the Wolf spiders, probably one of the most shy ones. I have always troubles to get close enough to them because they seem love to run.
Anyway, this one was probably still a bit sleepy after the winter or maybe he didn't have enough energy, but still he tried to walk away. When I put my hand close to him he climbed on it and sit there still for a while, so I could take some pictures.

I know it's a Wolf spider, but I don't have any exact ID.

Picture have been taken at sunny day. It was a bit difficult conditions because of the bright snow everywhere and quite dark spider as a subject. The white BG is snow, of course ;)

Hello Monika,
Technically very good apart from the blown out light patches on your fingernail, I can appreciate though that macro shots are not so easy one handed with limited time before the subject leaves. The image and note together are enjoyable to read and view, an interesting post. Can't help with the ID, sorry.
Regards,
Adrian

Hi Monika, good shot. Those fingernails of yours are very well kept!

Lovley spider. Hard to be exact on the ID, it's a Pardosa sp. but I would be too sure on the specifics, they can be very confusing and may need examination to be sure. The prerequisite of examination is death, so I don't ever send any spiders away.

Very well done.

Hi Monika!

Very nice finger...erm, I mean spider ;-) Lucky you! I still didn't saw any live creature yet. Wolf looks great, brave one, detailed and sharp. Pov is good, I know how hard it is to catch and hold these spiders on hand. First sign of better times, I hope!

HI Monika, nice nail and the French polish looks good too!
I knew our Spiderman, Greg, would love it. He's nice and sharp, good colours and showing him on your finger is a good contrast. Well done,
Janice

Hi Monika,
Nice shot on the spider. Colors and detail look excellent. Also nice healthy looking nails.
Scott

hi Monika,
great close up, Very sharp POV,, framing, TFS Kyle

Hi Monika,

Excellent shot and yes, your nails are in excellent shape.
I agree with Paul, somekind of Pardosa. They are one of the first to be seen in the spring amongst decaying leaves on the ground.
Well done.

Mike

Czesc Monika!
Podoba mi siê Twoje zdjecie i odwaga. A swoja droga, dlaczego nie piszesz choc odrobinke w j. polskim? Jestem z tego pokolenia co to owczesne metody nauczania jezyka ...itd. Pozdrawiam serdecznie i dalej lece do Twoich fotek.
