[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I have many favourite spiders and this is definitely one of them.

Jumping spiders are probably one of very few spiders that can be called cute. Someone said that they remind puppies and you just can't not like them looking at this big, shiny eyes.

These large eyes give them excellent eyesight. As most spiders they also have four pairs of eyes (two large ones in the middle, two small ones looking forward, two tiny eyes above the front row and two large eyes behind which are looking upward). All these eyes give them a 360-degree eyesight. What is also interesting spiders eyes are capable to see colour.
Spiders have singular eyes like mammals. The eyes can move out or inwards for focusing and they can turn up and down and left and right. So the spider can actually follow you with his eyes. That makes them even more interesting and gives the impression they are more smart than other spiders.

They may look like puppies, but they act like tigers.

After the big, shiny eyes recognize an object as eatable the spider carefully moves towards its victim.
When it is at a reachable distance, spider jumps on its prey and grabs it with jaws.

As for this fellow. I'm sure they are quite common in my region because I see them very often, usually among vegetation on meadows and forest clearings. They are quite friendly, but when you get too close they will jump away and it's hard to find them later. What is quite nice they hardly ever show you back and I have feeling they really try to have an eye on you

As for the ID. I think it can a male of Evarcha arcuata but I'm not 100% sure.

Hello Monika,
I think he is kind of cute. We have an animated TV series here in the UK called Wallace and Grommit, he looks like a character from that show. Excellent composition and I like the dark background a lot, detail is very good. Lighting looks difficult, strong light and shadow on the spider.

An excellent macro on this jumping spider. The composition and framing of the shot are superb. He looks great sitting out on the end of the leaf with some dramatic lighting. Nice sharp detail. Love those eyes. All of them.
