[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is not any new species, just a Common lizard (Lacerta vivipara).

What is quite interesting these lizards can be usually found in wet habitats. The one from my picture belong to the big group of lizards that live on the bank of river in my village.

Most of the time they bask in the Sun sitting on a bank or hunt for small insects among vegatation. When you get too close they either hide among grass or run to the water and swim to find some shelter in other part of the bank or, more often, among plants grownig in water.

I must admit I've never knew they are such a good swimmers and in water they look preety much like swimming crocodiles because of very simmilar body moves. You can see a picture of such lizard in WS. It's not great because they are very quick and I didn't manage to get anything sharper or with better framing.

The lizard from this picture had just left the cold water and now it's basking in the sun trying to warm up the body.

Apart from lizard there is also a little bonus on the picture. In the FG you can see some tiny grey things. These are living creatures - Springtails. There were lots of them on the water surface.

Ooh! Monika that is a cracking shot. I am surprised you got so close without it running off. Lovely composition and amazing detail on the upper body. Exposure and colour saturation are spot-on. Very fine capture, well done.

Very detailed photo. There is a lot to see here in the foreground but it doesn't distract from the main subject. Nice sharp image and a good DOF.

Ps-The workshop photo is great aswell. I never knew they were such good swimmers. You're so lucky to have such great photo-subjects in the neighbourhood. :)

Hi Monika, I am amazed that you only use a compact camera because your photographs are excellent, so clear and sharp. Just proves that it is the photographer that makes the picture and not the camera. This shot is no exception. Excellent detail, colour, lighting and POV. Everything spot on, TFS.

You have some amazing wildlife in the area that you live. This is an excellent shot, perfect detail, lovely colours, DOF is spot-on and the composition/framing works very well. No green hue either :-) A lovely shot.

You're lucky! I never did good picture of this cute reptile. Perfect light, details, Spring colours. I like everything, your note, too. I was thinking about these dark, velvet looking spots on surface of water - are they Collembola or not?

It's a great model Monica! Beautiful and photogenic. You took it wonderfully. I like the especially feeling of the depth towards to the tail end. Congratulations...
