[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Fomes fomentarius (L. ex Fr.) KickxEchter Zunderschwamm Amadouvier, Hoof Fungus or Tinder Bracket. Bracket 5–45cm across, 3–25cm wide, 2–25cm thick, hoof-shaped, hard and woody, usually discrete but several fruit bodies may occur on the same trunk; upper surface with a hard horny crust, concentrically grooved and zoned grey. Flesh hard, fibrous, cinnamon-brown. Taste acrid, smell slightly fruity. Tubes 2–7mm long in each layer, rusty-brown. Pores 2–3 per mm, circular, light grey-brown darkening when handled. Spores brownish, lemon-yellow, oblong-ellipsoid, 15–20 x 5–7um. Hyphal structure trimitic; generative hyphae with clamp-connections. Habitat usually on birch in Scotland and Northern England, but also on beech. The few record from Southern England are mostly on beech and sycamore. Season sporulating in spring to early summer, perennial. Uncommon. Not edible. Distribution, America and Europe.

Swietne. To wszystko huby, czy te 'uszy' pomaranczowe to juz inny gatunek grzyba? Podobaja mi sie ich kolory.

Very interesting shot Jan. You can see here that the bracket fungi in the centre have been growing while the tree was upright...the ones on either side have grown since the tree fell over.
Nice colours on the new fungi,although a touch too bright. Well done.

Good shot with clear details. A tad overexposed but you done well

This is a strange formation, there seems to be 2 differet fungus, the Fomes and the yellow on in the fomes. It seems you had it difficult to get it into the frame, a pity is a bit cut and overexposed. It is very descriptive anyway, I would have liked to see a WS with the other side. Thanks for sharing.

This is very interesting and I like the composition. There are some over exposed areas, but I did not find it to be distracting.
