[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is my first picture of this lovely dragonly. I haven't met any of them last year and this year we seem to have a real plague which is great, of course :-)

These shiny fellow cause some troubles when I wanted to find an ID. I know for sure that it belongs to the Corduliidae family. Dragonflies from these group are usually called an Emeralds and if you look at the picture you will surely know why.

As for more close ID, well I think this could be a Downy Emerald (Cordulia aenea) which is probably the most common Emerald here, but...
When I was searching in internet I found also some pictures of dragons from Somatochlora species that look very similar, so I'm not sure about the ID for 100%.

In Poland Downy Emeralds are called Green Glass dragonlfies. I think I like the English name much better cause it really nicely describe there beauties.

Anyway, back to the ID matter.

I think the eyes caused most troubles. My dragon have quite pale colour of eyes and Downy Emeralds usually have a striking apple green eyes. I guess this can be a juvenile and hence the eyes didn't get the right colour yet. But I also read that juveniles have a brown eyes and my dragon has something between green and brown. Maybe it's on it's way to become an adult soon? I don't really know.

Anyway, I think that whatever it is, this is one of the nicest dragons I've ever seen.

I wanted to show the great metallic colours and structure of it's thorax and head hence the big close-up and tight framing.

Your macro shots are really wonderful, and this one makes no exception. I love the metallic colors of this dragonfly, very nice. Nice sharp details, good colors and composition, excellent POV and BG. Very well done !

This close-up macro of a dragonfly's upper body is beyond description as a nature photograph. Everything is not only crystal clear but also very beautiful to look at.
I particularly like the shades of emerald green on the upper back.
In short, the picture is a masterpiece in every respect.

Hi Monika,
Amazing detail and beautiful colours. The metallic colours on the body are quite amazing, it's like he is wearing some kind of futuristic armour :-) The eye is very interesting, although the detail is pin-sharp it looks blurry, almost as if it has some kind of cover over it. Great shot.
