Most popular from Zygaenidae in my area. Quite large - the wingspan is up to 40 mm. You can find this day-flaying moth near everywhere on dry meadows or stepes. Moths are on the wing in July and beginning of August.

Funny yellow caterpilars can be easy found in June on Lotus or Trifolium foodplants.

This picture was made during very poor weather - the butterflies and moths were sitting in grasses and was very steady. Sometimes the Sun was shining so the picture have enough light ;-)

Hi Chris,
poor weather can be very good weather for a photographer of nature, and you have well decided to go out for a capture like this one.
Perfect colours and details on both burnets, and a well balanced, rhythmical composition.
I very much like the folded hindwing that can be seen sticking out at the right burnet, and there seems to be another guest hidden right in the centre of the blossom, some black and yellow coccinellae beetle. A lot to discover, so a very pretty lively shot!
