[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
One week ago I post a photo of comma butterfly chrysalis. After 7 days I can present you the adult butterfly. I wanted to show you the moment of emergence. Unfortunately when I came buck from work on friday the butterfly was already sitting on the branch close to the chrysalis exuviae. He flew away on sunday :-) So maybe it is not to late for the third generation of Polygonia c-album in Central Europe.

Comma Butterfly (Polygonia c-album Family: Nymphalidae is a common european butterfly. It can also be found in North Africa and in Asia to China and Japan. It's common english name refers to the presence of white comma-shaped or C-shaped (latin name) sign on the underwing. Caterpillars host plants are Ulmus, Salix, Corylus,Ribes.

Flight period: one to three generations from May to October
Wing span: 46-52mm

Troszke ciemnawe Ci to wyszlo i jakos nie wiem, czy do konca ostre czy nie. Ale za to bardzo ladna komopozycja. Jestem zwolennikiem prostoty w tym wzgledzie.

So they are still emerging despite the change in weather, Krzy.
C-album has a dull underwing, but it is great beauty with its upper wings open.
I noticed the same thing about Chocolate pansy when I shot one from the underwing perspective. I will post it here one of these days.
Watching a butterfly emerge from the chrysalis must be a great experience which I have never had.
Great image by way of composition alongside the chrysalis.

Czesc Krzysiek!

Bardzo mi sie podoba ta seria, jak rowniez sama idea hodowania motyli. Od razu mi sie przypomina Arkady Fiedler :-) Ascetyczna fotografia, rzadkosc jesli chodzi o zazwyczaj kolorowe motyle. A tak nawiasem mowiac - widzialem takiego c-album, w calkiem dobrej kondycji, w sobote w Ogrodzie Botanicznym.
