One of the most common butterflies in my region.
Known as Clouded yellow in English. In Portuguese is known as “Maravilha”
It belongs to the Pieridae Coliadinae Coliadini family.
Their caterpillars feed on several plants such as: Trifolium, Medicago, Onobrychis, Lotus, Coronilla, Melilotus, Hippocrepis, Astragalus and other Fabaceae
They laid the eggs singly on the upperside of leaves of the foodplant. They are pale yellow when first laid, turning orange prior to hatching. The egg hatches in 6 to 10 days. |

Hi Paulo
Another great butterfly. In Poland it is quite common but we have only migarting specimens. Good sharp image with nice OOF background. I did a little WS I hope you like it

Hello Paulo,
well detailed, clear portrait of the Clouded Yellow sucking nectar from fragile blossoms. Composition might take some cropping at the left, just as suggested by Krzysztof. I like the pleasantly soft light. Coliadinae are fascinating butterflies, and determining the correct ID of Coliadinae is still quite a puzzle for me.
Having been absent from the site for many months, I am trying to catch up with my some of my friends' postings as good as I can.
