[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is one of the most common species in my country, Portugal.
A small butterfly, very active that we can see flying from spring to later automm.
It likes the nectar of the Mentha Piperita, "Hortelă-pimenta" in portuguese.
The foodplants of their larva are rumex.
The caterpillar is small and has pink and green colors.
Also known as Small Copper in english.
Both sexes are difficult to tell apart. On the upperside the hindwings are primarily brown with orange patches. The forewings are orange edged by brown, within the orange are several dark spots.
With the undersides the forewings are paler version of their uppersides. The hindwings are brown with small darker brown spots; plus there are small patches of orange close to the outer edges.

Male small coppers are fiercely territorial and will not only chase of other males but also other butterfly species. The male is darker then female.

The eggs are laid singly on their foodplants dock and sorrels. They overwinter as pupae.

'Very active' is very good description for this little butterfly. It is almost impossible to capture it ;-) But you did it very well. Good pose, well seen details on its wings and body, nice warm light. I like it Paulo!

This is very sharp. Lovely exposure, colors and sharpness. My only nit is the composition is a bit centred. Great shot, very well done.
