[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
"Serra da Estrela (Star Mountains) is the highest mountain range in Portugal and includes mainland Portugal's highest peak (Pico mountain in the Portuguese Azores islands is higher), which has a natural altitude of 1993 m (around 6541 feet). However, in 1816 - 1826 the Portuguese king João V ordered the construction of a 7 m tall tower so that the peak could reach 2000 m. The location of this tower is known as "Torre" ("Tower", literally translated).

The mountain range is about 100 km long and is 30 km at its widest point. It is formed from a huge granite ridge that once formed the southern frontier of the country. Due to its bizarrely shaped crags and gorges, mountain streams and lakes, beautiful forests and magnificent views, the area ranks among Portugal’s outstanding scenic attractions.

The Mondego river which is the biggest river of Portugal entirely set in Portuguese territory, rises in the Serra da Estrela. Viriathus, the famous Lusitanian leader and Portuguese national hero, is said to have been born in the town of Loriga in the Serra da Estrela. During the Roman Empire, Serra da Estrela was known has Herminius Mons (Mountains of Hermes).
The mountain range is now part of the Serra da Estrela Natural Park and offers plentiful skiing opportunities.

The Serra da Estrela Dog (Cão da Serra da Estrela) is a breed of mountain dog that takes its name from this region."

Hi Ana,
Very well focused and great detail. Excellent DOF and well composed. A bit on the barren and desolate side, but an interesting note, and a great job of capturing this rugged landscape. Well done!
PS - You've got a smudge, top edge, center. Easily removed with PS..

Hello Ana,

Thanks a lot for this amazing desolaed landscape. They look really alien and unfriendly. But at the same time I would like to hike there :-) Good composition of frame.
Best greetings,
Michal

Hello Ana!
Excellent capture.Well seen and composed.Details, sharpness and framing are wonderful. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Ana, nice landscape. Very good perspective and low POV. Excellent colour and detail also. I would have probably cropped more of the sky out of the photo to make the picture more panoramic but that is just my preference. A very good shot my friend a well deserved smiley. TFS.

Hi Ana
Desolation, imagination, creation, fascination, and captivation are all words that jump to mind when looking at this very well captured and beautiful landscape.
Great composition & POV, excellent DOF to infinity, and spot-on exposure.
Very well done and TFS.

Olá Ana,
Esta vista de la sierra es bien distinta de las otras, pero para mi gusto mucho mejor. Los riscos son hermosos, parece un paraje volcánico; excelente punto de vista.
Saludos

How I miss my country.... very nice shot Ana, It reminds meso much of the Pico do Aerio in Maderia. A weird but beautiful landscape. I remember spending many a nights undrr the stars at the highest point there and during the day if there were clouds you where above them which just made it feel like you floating...... Very nice note ana, I am learning more of Portugal with you its nice.
