Never saw this insect.

Thanks to Heinz (wallhalla15) and Loot, it's a Caddisfly (Trichoptera).

About this insects:
Adult caddisflies resemble moths. Both the larvae and pupae are aquatic. The larvae build and live in tubelike cases of leaves, sand, twigs, or bark so distinctive that most species can be identified by the type of case they make. Larvae that build a portable case pull it behind them as they crawl about over the bottom of the river. Larvae feed on both animals and plants. Some stream species build nets in which they capture food drifting in the water. Most of a caddisfly's life is spent as a larvae. Caddisfly larvae are an important food of fishes, particularly trout.

Hi Paulo
Seems like Heinz is on the right track. It is definitely from the order Trichoptera and from the Dipseudopsidae family. It is a large-collared caddisfly, but unfortunately I am not sure of the exact species ID.
Very well captured, great composition, natural colours, spot-on DOF with nice details on the insect, splendid BG and perfect exposure.

very well describing, well detailed shot of one of the less conspicuous insects that resemble moths in many ways, making me believe they have to be closely related to lepidoptera.

Caddisflies are not frequent object on TN and not easy to photograph either. The image is slightly oversharpened but anyway a good job!!!
