Hello friends,

I've just returned from a terrific trip more or less around Romania. Well it wasn't that big actually, but we covered about 1500km so it was quite a nice journey :)

During this trip, my friends and i visited some great sights that we've never seen before and the first one of those were the Mud Volcanoes from Buzau County. The landscape there is impressive and it holds some very cool surprises for the first time visitor. The good part is that the place is still mostly natural and intact, the bad part is that they are about to remake the road to there and create more facilities...so it's all downhill from now, in terms of keeping it clean and "footprint-less" :(

Some info from Wiki:
The Mud Volcanoes are a geological and botanical reservation located in the Berca commune in the Buzău County in Romania. Its most spectacular feature is the mud volcanoes, small volcano-shaped structures typically a few meters high caused by the eruption of mud and volcanic gases.
As the gasses erupt from 3000 meters-deep towards the surface, through the underground layers of clay and water, they push up underground salty water and mud, so that they overflow through the mouths of the volcanoes, while the gas emerges as bubbles. The mud dries off at the surface, creating a relatively solid conical structure, resembling a real volcano. The mud expelled by them is cold, as it comes from inside the Earth's continental crust layers, and not from the mantle.
The reservation is unique in Romania. Elsewhere in Europe, similar phenomena can be observed in Italy (northern Apennines and Sicily), Ukraine (in the Kerch Peninsula), as well as Azerbaijan.

Hope you'll like it and thanks for visiting.

Hello Horia,
For me a location I never heard about and it is very impressive! Excellent picture taken from a ideal point of view and a good lateral light. It looks almost like on another planet. I didn't know that you have this kind of landscapes in your country.
Very well done and most interesting posting
Kind regards
Anne

Se pare ca drumetia ta la Buzau este cu folos.
Ma bucur ca ai prezentat aici fenomenul de la Berca, intr-o captura de calitate.
Felicitari mai ales pentru albastrul acela special al cerului.

Hi Horia,

You've wonderfully documented the rare creation of nature. Thanks for posting. I just can't wait to view other shots from you.

Hi Horia.
this is a beautiful landscape and it looks like from another
planet as Anne mention.
The picture is well exposed with correct WB and very nice light.
It's also well composed with a small diagonal and the pattern
on the ground leads the eyes nicely into the picture.
It's great picture, my friend, a real wall-hanger.
Regards
Gert

great wide capture, TFS Ori

Buna Horia,
Excelenta fotografia, culori deosebite pentru subiect si cer.
Imi place unghiul de abordare pentru a mari dinamismul peisajului.
Felicitari!
Marius.

Hi Horia
I like your image a lot.
That's really beautiful place (I was there in 2002) and your picture reinded me that time.
Well composed and exposed. I hope you have more pictures from that place and you'll present them soon :)
Thanks for sharing
Ania

Hi Horia,
I've been away for a litle while, but I see you did the same and returned with some stunning photos from an awesome area. I did not expect to see such a landscape from your country.
Your POV is excellent. You used the natural lines to the fullest and created a very strong leadline. The clear blue sky suits this type of photo perfectly because it does not claim any attention from the details in the volcanic 'sand'. The shadows are a lovely addition to the photo and show the perfect timing you did to capture it.
I do hope that the new road will also bring new protection laws to the area.
TFS,
Niek
