Rana Temporaria/ European Common Frog/ Broasca de munte
Dorsal surface and flanks are very variable in colour, typically yellowish brown, brown but may be olive green coloured and some individuals have a reddish or yellow appearance. Variably spotted or striped.
Common Frogs are known to be able to lighten and darken their skin in order to match their surroundings.
Males are distinguishable from females due to hard swellings (called nuptial pads on their first finger. These are used for gripping females during mating. Also, during the mating season, males' throats often turn bluish. Males also possess paired vocal sacs, which the females lack. During the mating season, males are generally light and greyish in colour, whereas the female is browner, or even red. |

Hello Cristian,
Great capture.
Beautiful colours wiyh excellent detail.
Fantastic composition and light.
Great capture Cris of this frog... I find them difficult to photograph for some reason... they never quite turn out like I think they should. But this one... looks very regal... perhaps if a fair maid kissed this one he would indeed turn into a prince. Very well done... outstanding POV. TFS

Salut Cristian
Hi-hi...simpatic. Imi place cum se uita la tine, sau la obiectiv.
Numai bine, Oana
Hello Cristain
Very good portrait of this European Common Frog. I do like the depth of field and the necessary sharpness especially if you take into account that the availabe light was limited.
