[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Black Darter (Sympetrum danae)
A late flying species which can be seen from July to the end of October. This small darter is found on heaths and lowland. It is rare in upland sites. The recorded distribution indicates it is rarely from Romania and also there are few records.

Mature males are therefore easy to identify. Females and immature males are similar to other Darters but are relatively smaller, with all-black legs, a black triangle on top of the thorax and a black stripe with a row of three yellow spots on it on the side of the thorax.

KEY IDENTIFICATION FEATURES
* small dark species with black legs (in mature specimens)
* mature males have waisted, black abdomen with yellow spots on sides
* females dull brown with black markings on thorax and yellow tint to base of wings
* immature males bright golden yellow

This picture is dedicated to cosmin, because this is my second case when i found for him a rare species.

Hi Parvulescu,

Good macro with fine details on the head and body.I also liked the framing and positioning of the subject.

Well Done & TFS.

Hi Parvulescu,
Beautiful capture of this insect.
I like so much the pose and way he is handling the upper part of the branch.
Great POV used here, that shows us wonderful details, specially on the red eyes.
Very good compostion also.
Congratulations, thanks for share and best regards,
JM

Hi Parvulescu,
The Black Sympetrum is quite common in S. Sweden, even though it is a rarity for you.
This shot is well composed with fine BG, but could be a little sharper.
TFS and regards, Ivan

The selective focus on the face of the insect is pretty good, Lucian. Nice perspective, DOF and colours.
TFS and bye.

Hello Parvulescu,
what a nice picture. An unusual pov, but with great sharpness it shows the details well. The colours are great.

Salut Lucian

Ce captura faina!
Imi place sa mai vad ceva specii noi! :)
Foarte interesant POV dar poza e prezentata cu detalii faine si in culori superbe.
Si DOF-ul e ok iar compozitia a exceptionala.

Bravo si TFS
Horia
