This is a typical Lacerta agilis ssp. chersonensis male in his mating colors. This sub-species is common for the Easrten part of Romania and i stumbled upon it in one of my larger trips from this spring. It is probably the most beautifull variety of this species in our country.

P.S. Sorry if the quality isn't all that great...i had to compress it so it would fit the 200kB limit.

Salut Horia, excelente detalii in fotografia ta. Culori vii, adevarate. Felicitari. Dan.

Hello Horia,
Very good shot! The picture quality is good enough. The colours af the lizard are really great. I like the POV a lot too. The lizard looks as if it was very much interested in your camera. The weak part of this picture is the background with not very interesting grass, but I guess you couldn't do much about it.
WELL DONE on this one!

PS. I read that you're interested in herpetology. I wonder if you ever seen Lacerta agilis that was trying to attack you? I found such lizard lately. It's picture is in my gallery. Maybe you know something more about it.

Hallo Horia,

Very nice photo with brilliant and vivid colors! Also razor sharp! Contrast, composition and DOF very good as well. Pretty nice picture for a non SLR-camera. Congratulations and TFS!

Regards,
Eddie

Hi Horia,
Great shot of this beautiful Lizard, who could resist him in those colours :-) I like the shallow DOF and it's a great POV too. Excellent colours and great detail, a really nice shot.

I was in Romania in May, a beautiful country. I ate a lot of Cascaval Pane, it's the nicest thing I've eaten for a long time! :-)

Regards,
Adrian

Hi Horia,

Fabulous shot! It takes a lot of patience to shoot animals well.
I really like the POV, a feeling of being nose to nose with this little fellow, which makes him more equal somehow.
Great colours, composition and DOF
Best wishes,
Silke

Hello Horia,
Excellent close up on this splendid green lizard. i love the details on head and the S body shape blurring more upon right.
Very good job.
I´ve read you´re a herpetologist student, in my galley I have some photos that maybe can interest you.
Best regards
Hernán

Hi horia,

Good capture with an excellent clarity. Well done,

Fara

Very cool perspective, with that almost 3d vision screaming "too close"... just kidding, we are never too close to them arnt we ? :) toate cele bune, Radu

Hi Horia,
Very nice shot.
Very good sharp and colors.
Well done !!!

Great shot Horia!
L.a.chersonensis is only common in the lowlands of eastern Romania. You will not find them in the higher platous or mountain sides. Even in moldavia, in higher regions you will only find L.a.agilis.

Sal Horia!
I must have missed this one looking at your gallery on previous occasions. Boy, is this pretty. Wonderful colors of the reptile, excellent POV and composition leading through the entire frame. Very good sharpness and tight framing. Congratulations,
Mark

Hello for the 3rd time ;)
Another nice portrait of reptile, and the second subspecies after ssp. euxinica of this nice lizard.
I like the POV, colours, DOF and the short but informative note.
Greetings from Lodz,
Radomir

Draga Horia,

You rascal you! ;)

The mating game eh! Wonderful colours!
Is the chersonensis from the region around Odeska?
Sa ai o zi buna, tfs, Jasha

Nice shot. I feel the out of focus tail is a little bit of distraction, but otherwise it is a good photo. The eye is sharply focussed, and great colours.
