This beautiful shorth-horned grasshopper inhabits montane areas in southern Europe. It's vulnerable due to habitat in which occurs - eg. alpine meadows. That is why it's included in the EU programme Natura 2000. In Romania this species is also protected by law.

Nice species,you´ve taken a good macro shot, maybe a bit short focal depth, but not serious.
It´s curious to me to know a endangered grasshopper, here almost all species causes damages in plants and occurs in big amounts.

Superb finding, Michal!
But are you sure is it not Pseudopodisma fieberi? I can't see the genitalia (usually pink or red in Odontopodisma, rarely green or yellow), but the red apical part of hind femora is usually for Pseudopodisma...
Pseudopodisma fieberi is quiet common in the Oriental Carpathians, I also found it near Bicazu Ardelean...
