I've seen a lot of "in-flight" shots here on TN so i thought i'd change something and bring up a new term: "in-swim" :))))

Nothing really special about this shot, though. It's just another Rana ridibunda shot from the thermal pond near my town.

For some additional info about the population and/or species you can always visit my previous posting about it here and here.

I used the circular polarizer on this one to get the best view through the water and it reflection...it actually helped, so i was pleased with that :)

Thanks for looking and have a lovely weekend everybody!

hi Horia,

bonne idée cette grenouille en train de nager. La couleur est agréable et la composition épurée lui donne l'impression d'être en suspension.

Hello Horia,
this is a very good shot of this floating frog.
I love the way they don't seem to have a care in the world when they float like this!

Excellent - you have really captures the moment. I had to look twice at the shot - at first I thought it was jumping not swimming.

Salut Horia
C'est une excellente prise en close up très belle présentation souvent l'on voit des oiseaux en plein vol mais rarement des grenouilles. Tu as réussis de belles couleurs et de jolis détails.

buena captura, bello efecto...

excelente composición, y pov.

Hi Horia,
What a good use of the polarizer!
At first I thought it was a jump of the rana to the water, but then I realize that is a exemplary use of the polarizer and their properties to filtrate the light reflections coming from the water.
Excellent the pose catched and the movement frozen.
My compliments and thanks for share it.
Best regards,
JM

Hello Horia,
A very pleasing post of R. esculenta with a humourous title. The 'in-swim' action is well caught with good timing and the lighting and sharpness are superb in this well-composed shot.
This is known as the Edible Frog. Are they eaten in your country?
TFS and have a nice weekend!
Ivan

Hi Horia,
This is impressive picture. May be the fist in-swim picture on TN. Very nice composition and crisp clear image. TFS.

Hello Clint,
Good idea : in-swim ;-) Your little fellow swimmer is nice but in fact he seems to fly ;-)
The "+++" : composition, subject, pose, POV, sharpness, DOF, colors, exposure, useful note...
The "-" : nothing...
Congratulations my friend and TFS.

Hi Horia, wonderful jump of this rana, great moment with splendid colors, excellent focus, very well done, have a great week end, ciao Silvio

Hello Horia,

I must say that this shot is different. You've done a particularly good job with your position and I like how we see this fella from behind showing us exactly how breaststroke should be done. However, to begin with I was unsure whether he was actually swimming or jumping! It is difficult to make out the water so he appears mid air! The water must be very clean.

At the focal range you used and only 1/80 your must have very steady hands or image stabilisation is working great! Nice shot, keep it up and have a great weekend, unfortunately I probably won't as I have that big assignment looming over my head :( Boo!

Ah well. Take care buddy,
Simon

Terrific "in-swim" image of this handsome frog, Horia!
What an innovative use of polarizer for a situation like this! The colour of water, apparently transformed into a shade of grey, serves as the most apt background for the subject.
Thanks and take care.

Hi Horia, Hey I better critique this for two reasons, I like frogs and your camera:-). Good capture of the little fellow. Nice to see the different species and colors. You've got an action shot here. Good image and detail in the colors. Good diagonal composition. Well done, thanks.

Haha, Horia. : )
I like your "in-swim" shot. Why not indeed?
Great POV, all the better because we can actually see the legs underwater.
A beautiful little frog.
TFS. : )

Hello Horia,
that's a charming and inventive variation of "in-flight", indeed! Good details for the relatively slow shutter speed that allows to show some dynamic motion blur on the hindwings while the rest is pretty sharp. The pose is lovely, very inviting and authentic. Very nice, and pleasantly humorous - do not know why, but very often your pictures not only impress me but they make me smile. Thank you my friend!
With best regards,
Peter

Hi Horia.
In the childhood parents read a fairy tale on a frog of the traveler who flied. You have embodied this fairy tale in a reality. Thank you and BRAVO.
Amazing subject, composition, sunlight and BG, etc, etc., but key points is creative idea. My compliments and TFS.
Alexei.

This is a nice in-swim shot. The only thing missing is something to indicate scale. I have no idea of what size this fellow is. He is a pretty little guy. I love all the markings. Good use of polarizer.

Hello Horia,
Great "in-swim" idea :-) and perfect realisation... You invented a new current in TN photos :-) This one is very nice and if once you'll be able to photograph one swimming but from the underside, you'll become a TN classic :-)
Best greetings my friend!!!
Michal

Great shot Horia, the subject is well placed and the little blur on foot definitely gives drama. Very good work mf.

Hi Horia

Great shot. I can see the motion blur on the left leg which gives us the sense of movement. Nice presentation good exposure, sharpness and clarity. Thank you my friend! :-)

Hello Horia,
It is true that we don't see it often. Your note made me smile :-) In swim...:-) This is a nice moment capture with good details, colors and exposure. I like the way those little guys swim, they really are in their element and are very funny to watch but, taking a picture "in-swim" must not be that easy. Well done and TFS,
Claudine

Hi Horia. Good capture of this swimming frog. God clarity and colours. The spotted nature of the colouring are excellent to see. TFS. Murray.

This is the first time I have seen a froggy do the crawl rather than the breaststroke!
Sure looks like Kermit here also kicks a bit too hard with the left leg! I think your Rana kl. etc. needs a coach, Horia! Tfs, J.

PS I like the frogsuit your competitor is wearing! Very slick material! Nice pattern too!
Something the Aussie Thorpedo might wanna try.

Hello Horia,
I'm way behind in looking the gallery and writing comments. And it's even getting worse with a three weeks holiday in Poland ahead :-)
this one is really nice, çause it shows the patterns on the back of this frog. It would be nice to collect all different patterns on the same species. Maybe an idea for this summer...
If the twig in the water on the left side would have been out, the frog would have been flying, hence a in flight shot. Good you left it in ;-)
Jacob
