This is a photo i took in a new place for me, actually a very close one to where i live, just outside the city limits.
It consists in 2 smaller lakes one next to each other, in which i hope to find a lot of interesting creatures (both vertebrates and invertebrates) once the warm season arrives.

Until then, this is a view west-ward, almost looking at the border with Hungary, on a very nice evening. The clouds really took interesting shapes and the lovely colors of the set were nicely reflected in the icy waters below. The only thing i would have wished for more in this frame was a tree (or something else to act as a focal point)...but for a first visit i'm happy with the outcome. Probably in the next one i'll get better POVs and compositions.

Technically, this was my first outing with the new Coking ND-grads. For this shot, i used a polarizer and the ND4 (P121M) for a more even exposure of the scene.

Hope you'll like it :)

PS: I hurried the post of this shot since i'll be leaving for Italy on Thursday. I'm going for a very short trip to Venice and i'm hoping to catch a glimpse of the famous Carnavale di Venetia :)

Hallo Horia
I can understand why you have given this photo the title "Frozen Sunset". It is very easy to freeze looking at an absolute beautiful sunset like this. Looking at this scene forms such a peaceful and calming effect in one’s mind . Seeing a scenery like this just makes you admire and appreciate the Creation once more right from the start. Thanks for sharing. It was lovely to look at.
Kind regards
Anna

Hi Horia,

Lovely landscape and good use of your filters. Using those filters really helps to capture the light evenly.

The colors are wonderful with the blue, pink and purple tones. I like the pink tone reflection on the snow and the dark line of trees in the BG gives a good demarcation between the sky and ground. The streaks of clouds are also lovely. TFS.

Hello again my friend,
i've just got time to drop in quickly to comment on this - great shot! Very 'other worldy'! Terrific atmosphere and more great use of that Grad.
I agree perhaps the view would be enhanced by some sort of FG interest perhaps, but i still think it stands alone without one very well anyway. Good control over the exposure once again. Have agreat time in Italy!
Paul

Hello Horia,
Lovely colours!
A landscape that reminds me of Finland for some reason, must be the special light I think...
A simple and attractive composition, good definition makes both sky and ice very attractive!
Greetings,
Pablo -

wonderfull capture, and color the sky

Nice even exposure, a beautiful sunset sky Horia.
Not bad for a first visit ;}
Off to Italy then? Will that be a first as well??
Great work,
Howard

Hi Horia,
I like very much the result of the tandem filters used here.
You've got the proper colour saturation, for this evocative scene, and the sky really helped to make this a very special shot.
My compliments and thanks to post it.
Hope you catch a lot of good shots in your next travel to italy!
Warm regards,
JM

Magificent shot Horia!
Those new filters obviously work :-D
Beautiful colours and perfect lighting.
Very even exposure thanks to that ND Grad!
Brilliant sharpness as well.
Man, I love Italy! I have relations over there and go quite often! Full of lizards and snakes as well :) Hope you have a great time and bring back some mind-blowing shots! :)

Cheers,
Joe

A super shot and one which Canon again does so well and my disclaimer that anyone can own a Canon but not everyone can take a picture such as this...you seem to have followed both your instincts and a bit of the book as well...very nicely captured.

Hi Horia.
The key point of the image is its amazing refined colour palette and brilliant composition. I like the picture a lot. Excellent framing and details too.
Let me know, please, why you have used this combination of the exposure parameters (ISO 100, f/16 and especially ˝ sec)? Did you use remote cord or mirror prelifting? It is so interesting to me. MY best wishes and TFS. Excellent job.
Alexei.

Hello Horia,
Wonderful landscape in lovely colours and with beautiful cloud formations. I like the layers of colours and the simplicity. It looks very cold! Well done.

Hi Horia

A beautiful, well observed shot. The colours are beautiful and the proportions spot-on. The cirro-strtus clou is well placed and 'lifts' the shot.

James

Enjoy Venice - I was there in August - I have never seen the Carnival though - I envy you.

Hi Horia, how beautifully shot, those colours are stunning! The exposure is fantastic, without which this picture wouldn't be the same. Not only is this picture fantastic, it is also a great learning for me. I wish I could see the pictures you will bring back from Venise, the carnaval! Thanks once more,

Francine

Beautiful shot of this sunset Horia.

Hi Horia!

This is a superb winter scenery where a dreamland has become true. Everything is perfect in that view: the ice and its colors, the forest-line and the delicate sky. You put this all well on stage in a fine balanced composition. What makes it outstanding is the fact that nothing is overdone, everything looks so natural.

Difficult to do a better sunset...

Kind regards

Markus

Hi Horia,
If you compare this photo with the next, the colors and mood are so simular, but I am sure that the temperature is the complete oposite. Its interesting to have a similar mood with such a different weather type.
I like the texture of the frozen water and the subtle tonal differences in it. The diagonal lines of the clouds add great depth to the photo and bring you down from the top to the great colors.
TFS,
Niek

Hi dear Horia ,
So nice shot.this is silent.
