nice title, i wonder which track you'd pick to go with the shot? Oh well, 'nothing else matters' anyway eh ;o)
Seriously though, wow! Excellent stroing diagonal element to the composition, which is well balanced with the Calopteryx on the right and the beautiful bud on the left. It's a hard choice, but i think i would have also gone with this shot. Although the other is amazing also...impressive stuff, have a great trip my friend.

what an amazing inage is this, good composition, colors and great great details of the damselfly. wonderful! its not your fault but the grass stalk behind is little distracting but its part of nature too. good work. i wish you lots of luck and hope to see these kind of images from your trip. TFS.

Hi Horia!

You helped me with Calopteryx, now I'm helping you :-) According to my Insects of Britain and Western Europe this is C.splendens - its wings are greenish. Excellent macro, shinning body looks superb. Light and composition are also nice. And of course as old heavy [or trash] metal fan I like your title :-) Workshop is another story - I hope you'll post workshop picture in one of next posts - it'll go straight to my favs!

Interesting name. Kind of "rocks" eh? My (friends and) group, R.E.M. is in Europe for many weeks now. Stop and say hi from Bob (me). Tell Bobby Whittaker that I said you are a cool photo and should get back stage:-) Not that it would work...I sometimes have troubles.
I know what you mean about this almost liquid metal quality to these...There are so many. You pictured this one very well. And I have seen some in different types of metal appearance. I wonder at what causes this colour to look this way....I wonder if anybody even thought to question...Take care and taker pictures:-)

No es fácil captar esas tonalidades y creo que lo has conseguido por el buen manejo de la luz.Encuadre sobresaliente.La ramita del fondo estorba ligeramente pero es que sino sería casi perfectala toma.

Hi Horia!

I doubt that it is possible to do a better damselfly picture. Not only the metallic effect as you describe it make it outstanding, but also the phantastic composition with the horizontal line of the wing repeated by the haulm of the grass. It's simply superb, well highlighted by a subtle colour and lighting management.

Simply a piece of art!

I'm sorry to have overlooked this splendid capture of yours! I like the different view of this female, hanging on a thin grass and with abdomen and wings separated. Great focus, sharp details and lovely colours. A wonderful diagonal composition too and a fine soft background. Well done!

Hi Horia.
Now I see brilliant work of our nice lenses as well as your great use of equipment. All is outstanding. First of all it is terrific composition of the picture. It was created with by very simple tools – charming gracious insect (its lines and shapes are amazing) and nice stem. Absolutely BG is great for this transparent subject. Details and sharpness of the damselfly are unbelievable. Colour reproduction is ultimate. Bravo. Refined work. My congratulations.

Amazing sharpness, exposure and details. You really captured well the metallic colors of this little damselfly. Great DOF and the subject looks stunning against the beautiful green background.
Outstanding workshop example of the metallic reflection on the abdomen.
(I would like to see what the photo looks like without the out-of-focus stem in background. I tried a workshop to clone it out, but I still need practice with cloning).

Hi Horia,
a very tastefully well composed pleasantly rhythmical image with beautifully subdued colours. The workshop zoom-in seems to be very close to the limits of resolution, but of course it looks really good in its powerful abstraction.

P.S.: I am just enjoying my first late night computer session in a well equipped hotel room since many days of blissful absence from modern technology - a short interrupt of urbanized comfort between exciting mountain trips through the unspoilt nature of our Alpine mountains. So much to see there in primordial sceneries, and every year is surpassing the previous ones in terms of density and beauty.
