Hi again

I've been away, yet again, for the weekend and now i'm back in town and thought about uploading another shot i took this summer.

Here is a female Migrant Spreadwing - Lestes barbarus - i photographed in the beginning of this month. I managed to find a beautiful habitat - a big pond near a forest - and spent about a day there investigating all the dragonflies and damselflies that were around. I managed to find quite a numerous populations of this Spreadwing species so i came back with good shots of both sexes.

Some info on the species:
This mobile species is typical for habitats prone to desiccation. It is recognized in most areas by its pale coloration and its bicoloured pterostigma.

It is a southern species that has increased dramatically in northern Europe since the mid 1990s, first reaching Great Britain in 2002.

It favours ephemeral conditions even more than other Lestes species, being typical for sites that dry out early in summer, such as dune slacks, meadow pools and shallow depressions.

Hope you'll like it and thanks for visiting :)
You can find some more new photos of dragonflies/damselflies on my website.

Obviously your talents and learned mechanics of your gear is still expanding, as are your horizons becoming clearer. This is one of my fav's in the insect world of dragonflies...and your image is so clear that as I have said other times...looks almost to be a film print. In that case we do not talk of megapixels because they are uncountable in number...We only speak of printability. Newspaper images are in a way pixels...but silver based film and certain rag papers are quite different. It would be interesting to see you work some time in film cameras and a darkroom. I'll be you would be quite surprised!

Hi Horia,
very nice to see the fruits of your recent labour, and also good to hear you found a new location to explore too.
This shot is up to your usual standards my friend, i especially like the BG here, it's perfect for your subject to sit against. The colours throughout are first class too - very well done!

hi Horia,
bon retour avec cette jolie prise très pure, j'aime beaucoup cette finesse qui donne son aspect fragile à l'insect. Belle compo et excellente gestion des couleurs.

Hi Horia!

Very clear and delicate shot. Simply and beautifull composition, nice pose of damselfly, good light and pale colours. Sharp and detailed insect, DOF is very good. Sigma at its best :-)

This is another beauty Horia. I love the golden colors along with the soft greens. I enjoyed your website.
Nice work!

Hello Horia!
A longer break from TN because of entomological studies with my students :)
This is wonderful picture of Lestes species (absent in PES gallery!!! :>). I like natural light, very good sharpness and DOF. Zygoptera are much more difficult to photograph as for me (because they are so small and tiny), and to take a good picture is not so easy :)
According to your pictures of Odonata I would like to ask you for the following ones: Enallagma chyathigerum - pair in copula, Cordulegaster bidentata, Erythromma viridulum, Ischnura pumilio, Brachytron patrense, Orthetrum albistullum during mating :)
Thank you in advance for your contribution to dragonfly diversity in our gallery!!! :)
Best greetings from very sunny Lodz!
Friendly yours,
Radek

Naturalidad del conjunto y sobre todo del color. Buen ncuadre en ese formato con un insecto difícil para ello. Buen fondo y control de la luz.
