Hello again

I've been traveling quite a bit these past few weeks and now i've just returned from the mountains where i got a lot of chances to go out shooting and exploring the nice countryside. Sorry i've been absent from TN all this time but where i was there was no internet and so i've missed a lot of beautiful shots here...i hope i will have time to see them all :)

I'm also very busy nowadays with a lot of work, plus i'm getting ready to go on a trip to Croatia :)) Wish me some good weather for some lovely sunrises and sunsets at the beach ;)

Getting back to this trip i've just come back from, i was lucky enough to whiteness some amazing things. I think the Southern Hawker - Aeshna cyanea - (pictured here) was the main "actor": i managed to see and photograph one emerge from its larva, i've seen it's first flight, i saw another pair mating, i saw a female ovipositing her eggs, i've seen males fighting over territory...but i guess there is nothing more beautiful than seeing a big male flying majestically over his stretch of "land".

Hope you like it, too :)

Buna Horia,

Fotografia ta este remarcabila avand in vedere viteaz cu care se deplaseaza aceste insecte. Imaginea este foarte buna cu detalii clare ale corpului libelulei. Culorile sunt de asemenea excelent redate.

Felicitari,
Cristian

Hello Horia,
There is a lack of dragonflies in Sweden this year and we don't see many European species on TN these days, so it's nice to see this in-flight of Aeshna cyanea, sharply caught from a great POV over a natural dark OOF BG.
Great also to see you back in action on TN, even if it is for just a short time before you go to Croatia.
I hope it goes well for you there and thanks for sharing this beauty,
Cheers my friend,
Ivan

Delicadeza, dificultad y oportunidad en esta captura de una libélula al vuelo. Y es que los foógrafos de naturaleza lo vemos todo ....

Hi Horia

Quite a reasonable shot of the hawker, cetainly a different POV for this shot. These guys are always hard in-flight so any shot that comes out in focus is acredit to the artist IMO. Good sharpness and the diagonal composition with blurred wings is rather good too.

Chris

Hi Horia,
So good to see you again here, and as it seems with many pictures awaiting to be seen here.
Precise timing and quick hands are essential to have this shot done.
Excellent capture of the flying insect, I would like to have one of this on my gallery some day.
So have a good travel to Croatia, and enjoy your time there.
Thanks for post this and best regards,
JM

Hi Horia.
I wish you some good weather for some lovely sunrises and sunsets at the beach :) as you have asked.

I wish you so many nice shots as posted now. Excellent in-flight image of a beauty. Superb X-composition and brilliant colour/other details reproduction. We can see even mirror reflection of the insect. It is cool. How does AF work of the lens on your camera? My best regards and TFS.
Alexei.

What an odd angle! I am trying to imagine how you took this...I do see a slight shadow of it below. You had a good ISO and over 1/600th for speed so it must have been really flapping those wings. I for one am missing your great images but envy you for all of your exciting travels and photo-op's. Keep on!

Bingo my Friend!
Dragonfly in flight is great prize for every nature photographer! Excellent timing and beautifull specie. Perfect work! BTW - I couldn't catch Southern Hawker in flight, but captured two other species :-)

Hi Horia!

It's apleasure to see you back and I hope your wishes for your stay in Croatia will come true. I was on the island of Krk this spring and enjoyed it very much!

Your dragonfly is absolutely superb. The vertical point of view adds to the value of the picture. I must have been difficult to catch it! The colours of this Hawker are stunning and he could also be the main actor in a book for children, the would enjoy the chequered and almost carnival insect. Moreover, it really looks like a helicopter...

Maybe the background is a bit too uniform. I can distinguish the shadow of the insect. It would be fine to see it a bit more distinctively.

Kind regards

Markus
